So this pic pretty much sums up the mid-west.
There isn't a hell of a lot. And the roads are really shitty. I keep thinking something is wrong with my car, but then I see the car in front of me bouncing around and then I realize that no... it's just the road.
I managed to somewhat sleep in, and then had a bit of a lazy am before driving back into Iowa to go to the Danish Heritage Museum in Elk Horn. I met up with Libi for a few hours and we had fun exploring the museum and chatting about family history and of course NCIS. Flat!Gibbs was a big hit with several other people in town (when is he not a hit?).
The gift shop failed as far as imports (food/drink wise, lots of other stuff though). I did find a few things though. I was really hoping for at least a Tuborg.
From Elk Horn I drove back to my hotel (I lied, I'm not really in Omaha, I'm actually in Bellevue, NE - which is named after Bellevue, Wa. Funny, yeah? In the hotel info packet there is a whole thing about Bellevue, WA and the puget sound area), relaxed, ordered dinner from next door (best bbq ribs I've ever had, though the corn bread was pretty lame - I didn't eat it) and have been relaxing every since. Tomorrow I'm off for Denver - which is about 7.5 hours driving without stops. I need to organize my car a bit before I roll tomorrow.
